Causes:

Removing electrical power from the server when doing table I/O such as scanning, updating tables and indexes.

Resolution:

  1. Do shutdowns on all your Viewer stations, canceling all forthcoming error messages. Just get them shut down.

  3. Now shutdown the FullServer system.

  4. Turn off the computer and scanner for 10 seconds.

  5. Turn on power source to scanner and then the server, then boot up the FullServer system normally.

  6. From the desktop, double-click the dri Server icon to load "Virtual Courthouse" and log on as a user with administrative privileges.

  7. From the "Maintenance Menu" select and run the "Pack/Rebuild All Tables" command.

  8. Once the rebuild has finished, you may log your other systems back on and all should be well.

Q4: The Workstation Preferences Dialog appears at startup

Message:

The Workstation Preferences Dialog appears at startup on a computer that worked fine the last time it was shutdown.

Causes:

    1.   Network connections to the server is broken and/or is slow to start.

    2.   Server may be very busy.

    3.   Other machines on the network could be hogging the network.

Resolution:

  1. Make sure the FullServer system is up and running.

  2. Click the Close button 3 times to cancel the dialog box, which will cancel the startup of the Virtual Courthouse.

  3. Do a normal Log Off... NOT a Shutdown.

  4. Now Log on Normally, and all should be OK.

Comment:

If the DataPath value was changed, try entering the default path: "H:\StanLyn\dri\Server\Data\"

Normally you would never change the value in the Shared DataPath textbox.  The only time that this needs changed is when you are changing it to a new location, have changed the shares, or moving the data to a different server.

Why is this happening?  Sometimes when starting the Virtual Courthouse from a cold boot (when machine was turned off), the Virtual Courthouse application is loading faster than the network connections are made, so when it tries to find where the data is, it fails because the network connections were not made.  Another reason is that the server may be very busy which will cause the network to be slow, and yet another could be that other machines on the network could be hogging the network .

A routine to automatically resolve this is in the works.
